We have received local feedback that business don’t know where to start when it comes to inclusion for 13,000 disabled islanders and over 4,000 carers in Guernsey. Here we start with some top tips, each with a hyperlink to move information. Did you know that in the UK ‘Purple Pound’ is worth in the region of £240 billion, that is a significant market in Guernsey too.

  1. Encourage staff to take the free online disability awareness training which explains more about language, hidden disabilities, discrimination and practical advice
  2. Improve your employment and disability knowledge with Guernsey Employment Trust best practice guides and workshops
  3. Consider how accessible your office, shop or café/restaurant is with our access building and design guides
  4. Mental health is critical to you staffs wellbeing and performance, check out our mental health factsheet and MIND Guernsey employers training
  5. How accessible is your website and your brochures and leaflets? Take a look at our website and print change cards and videos for top tips
  6. Become a Dementia Friendly office, nominate staff as Dementia Friends champions
  7. Invite disabled islanders, GDA, member charities in to share their knowledge and experiences on Inclusion and Accessibility
